In The Hills Winter 2021 Group Yoga Schedule


CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


All Levels Active Yoga - The All Levels Yoga classes are developed to incorporate elements of Classical Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, along with Pranayama (breathing practice) and a short meditation. This class is suitable for all levels, but a basic understanding of the Yoga postures is helpful to enter this class. If you already have an active lifestyle or exercise practice, but are brand new to Yoga, scheduling a private introductory lesson first will prepare you to go into this class.


Foundational Yoga - The Foundational Yoga class is perfect for those who are just beginning their Yoga practice. Basic poses from the Hatha Yoga catalog are taught in a manner that is accessible to any level student. Modifications and prop suggestions given, so that each student can access their version of the poses in the sequence.


Wisdom Yoga - The Wisdom Yoga class is for students of age 55 and older. No prior knowledge of Yoga is needed to participate. In this class, we explore joint movement for increased range of motion, stabilizing poses to improve balance, gentle poses for back care and relaxation for stress relief, all in a gentle way. Class is taught with a combination of chair, standing and floor postures as may be appropriate for each student. It will improve range of motion, posture, increases energy and overall improve one’s sense of well-being.


Yin Yoga - The Yin Yoga class may be best described as meditative, deep stretch. Most poses are performed down on the mat and are held for 3-5 minutes each, focusing the student on a meditative breath and mindset. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of Yoga practice. No prior knowledge of Yoga is needed to enter this class.
